Skincare products I’m obsessed with

Hope you have had a wonderful Easter!

The other day I was having a bit of a clear out of old products and stumbled across a load of products that I had completely forgotten I had bought – because they just didn’t work for my skin. Although I absolutely love trying out new products, I get so excited when I find a few gems that really work for me, and end up being bought again and again and never end up on the I-don’t-know-where-to-put-this-stuff-so-I’ll-shove-it-here shelf.

You may be familiar with my previous skincare/ makeup posts where I bang on about my oily/combination skin. I’ve found that having a great morning skincare routine is so important, with the fabulous products I’ll be raving about in a few seconds prepping my skin perfectly to combat oil for the rest of the day, without sapping all moisture from it, and leaving feeling as dry as the Sahara.

Whether I’m going home for the weekend or on holiday for a couple of weeks, these fab little products will be sure to follow.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+

This award-winning serum is designed to deal with blemishes/marks and is targeted specifically to those with oily/combination skin. I wasn’t entirely convinced when I first started using it (it feels a little bit dry on the skin, and wasn’t quite as moisturising as I thought it would be) but I decided to stick with it and within a few weeks of using it, my skin had really cleared up and areas of redness were almost non-existent,  and I’m talking a pea-sized amount for the whole face.

It comes in three forms as well – the standalone serum, the serum with SPF, and the serum with a slight bb cream tint to it. At the moment,  I use the standalone serum morning and evening, however, when it gets warmer, I like to swap it out for the SPF version. As I like a bit of coverage and warmer tone in my tinted moisturizer, I decided to give the tinted version a miss.

Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream

I dab a few little dots of this around my eyes morning and evening and it’s absolutely perfect for us sensitive skin sufferers. It’s not greasy or drying and provides the perfect amount of moisture, and I actually find it improves the application of my concealer. If I’m feeling a bit more tired than usual, I pop it in the fridge for a little while before use and find that when it’s cold, its great at reducing puffiness. Amazing.

Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-replenishing Hydrator

I genuinely didn’t think it was ever going to find a face cream that was super moisturizing, not greasy and great for sensitive, dry, oily and combination skin (yeah, my skin has more trouble making its mind up than me in a Mint Velvet sale) and I accepted that I was going to spend forever trying hundreds of different products.

Hah! No more!!

note: that doesn’t include mascara, or lipstick, or nail varnish or… well, you get the point.

I have to say I absolutely love the feel of this, right from the experience of applying it, to the feeling of it on my skin throughout the day. Being a gel cream, it has this wonderful light serum-like feeling, and it glides onto the skin and is absorbed so easily. Whether this lasts for the whole 72 hours remains to be tested, however, I find that at the end of the day my skin still feels soft and moisturised, even after I take off my makeup, cleanse and tone my skin.

What products have you been loving recently? 🙂

  1. Absolutely LOVE Clinique’s moisture surge – it’s insane isn’t it! I’d definitely recommend their other skincare products, as well as Liz Earle and Tropic. You can read about all of them on my blog! X
