First of all…
…Welcome to 2018!! 🙂
I couldn’t be happier to start the year with a new post, sharing the things I love with all of you. On that note, let’s get to it!
Here are a few of my favorite beauty products at the moment.
Foundation Primer (Radiance) | Laura Mercier | RRP £30.00
Whether applied before foundation, tinted moisturiser or just by itself, this primer is amazing. I picked one of these up a few days ago after hearing raving reviews about it and as soon as I put it on I could see why. Fresh scent, non-greasy and super blendable with a glistening dewy finish, a pea-sized blob of this primer instantly gave my skin the appearance of a radiant healthy glow as if I had a good full night’s kip. This really helped even the application of my tinted moisturizer (also giving Laura Mercier’s ago, keep your eyes peeled for a review!) and it happily stayed put all day, with no fine lines or patchiness. Unlike other silicone based primers I have tried, Laura Mercier’s sinks into the skin like a moisturiser, is very quickly absorbed and did not rub off after blending.
I also really like to apply a little bit of the primer along my cheekbones, brow bones and cupids bow for a subtle highlight before finishing my look.
5 stars from me!
Matte Lip Crayon in ‘Raspberry Red’ |No7 | RRP £9.00
Next on the list is this beautiful little matte lip crayon, which popped out of my No7 Advent Calendar and into my life on the 17th of December. First things first, the staying power of this is pretty impressive; I managed to get a good few hours wear of this before it faded and needed a little top up. However, with the way it fades, it leaves more of a natural stain which I am really liking. I particularly love the creamy texture and deep wine undertones this crayon has, as it really looks like it enhances my natural lip shade, especially when it’s worn away throughout the day. (there are several shades ranging from nude ‘honey bloom’ to the bolder ‘blazing coral’).
Though this is marketed as a ‘matte’ lip crayon, it does leave a slightly glossy sheen (see photo below) and isn’t quite as matte as other lip products I have tried e.g. Nyx Matte lip cream and Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution. Either way, if you like the matte lip look but also want a bit of natural shine, head down to Boots and give this one a go!
Original Skin Retexturising Mask with Rose Clay | Origins | RRP £25.00
Okay, I’ll admit, this was a bit of an impulse buy (its Origins, can you blame me?) however, I’m happy to say it hasn’t been regretted!
With both the brightening and exfoliating properties, this mask has been my go-to for dull, dry and acne prone skin that I tend to get in the colder months. Much like Origins’ other masks, this mask is designed to be applied all over the face, left for 10 minutes to dry and used 1-2 times a week. To remove it, I like to use a warm damp muslin cloth to really maximise the mask’s exfoliating properties and work the creams into the skin.
Although a mask was probably always going to feature in this post (I do love a good face mask) this one stands out from all the others I have tried, in terms of application and results. After use, my skin feels so so so soft and my skin tone is noticeably evened and brightened, most likely because of this masks unique exfoliating jojoba beads that remove dead skin and stimulate blood flow. Also, it smells amazing.
